“Why did I chose to complete a residency?” I chose to complete a residency in order to refine my clinical skills so that I can be the best pharmacist I can be for my patients.  A lot of what happens in real-world pharmacy practice is an art; the answers can’t always be found in the guidelines.  A year of concentrated training under skilled preceptors’ supervision allows flexibility to develop confidence in a practice style.

“Why Ohio State?” I chose Ohio State for several reasons.  First, because of the unique opportunity to complete an ambulatory care focused PGY1 at a Federally Qualified Health Center. I felt certain ambulatory care was the path for me, and this program supports that decision by allowing me to strengthen my skills in this setting immediately.  Second, I valued the opportunity to be associated with the college of pharmacy where I could develop my teaching and precepting skills.  Lastly, the quality of preceptors and mentors is remarkable.  Ohio State provides a supportive yet challenging environment that consistently produces successful pharmacists.
