Why did I choose to complete a residency?
I knew I wanted to go through residency ever since my first year in pharmacy school, and I’ve been looking forward to completing a PGY-2 informatics program ever since my fourth year. I love the clinical science of medicine and working with patients (and I’ll miss them), but I really enjoy the logistics involved in pharmacy informatics. Leveraging technology to improve health care is fascinating to me. We have so many tools at our disposal. Yes, we can accomplish task “X” with current technology, but how do you make it seamless? How do you make it elegant? How do you make it so someone will want to use it? These are my favorite questions to answer, and I’m here to learn how to answer them.

Before my interview for the PGY-2 program, I knew OSU would grant me the experience and exposure that I was seeking in pharmacy informatics. It is a large, forward-thinking healthcare organization with a strong pharmacy informatics team. After my interview, I knew that OSU was the fit for me. Completely nervous for the interview, I met the informatics team and suddenly felt comfortable with them as we talked and learned more about each other. Not only that, but the team members have all been here for multiple years – a sign that the team was cohesive and one I’d like to be a part of.
