“Why did I chose to complete a residency?”

My interest in hematology/oncology began during research experiences as an undergraduate student.  After pharmacy school, I knew that specializing in hematology/oncology pharmacy was what I wanted to do in my career, which requires completion of residency.  I also appreciate the added research and teaching experiences that a residency program provides.

 “Why Ohio State?”

The James Cancer Hospital is a high-volume, nationally-respected cancer center that is at the forefront of cancer research and treatment.  The pharmacy specialists are truly experts in their fields and the highly specialized practice at OSU allows for learning from preceptors who have significant depth of knowledge about each specific type of cancer.  I like having a large class of co-residents because I learn from them, grow with them, and rely on them for support.  I chose to complete my residency at Ohio State because I believe the training I am receiving here will prepare me to excel in any oncology pharmacy practice in the future.
